MyIPO joins hands with TikTok to strengthen intellectual property awareness

The Malaysian Intellectual Property Office (MyIPO) and TikTok signed a cooperation agreement to work together to ensure that Malaysian intellectual property laws are fully complied with.

In a joint statement issued by both parties, MyIPO and TikTok stated that this cooperation aims to keep the intellectual property policy on the TikTok platform consistent with Malaysian intellectual property legislation.

The two parties formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday.

The statement emphasized that one of the key points of the memorandum is to popularize intellectual property knowledge to the TikTok community, especially training and dissemination to merchants who actively use TikTok Shop.

In Malaysia, TikTok Shop has more than one million sellers, 98% of which are small and medium-sized enterprises.

In addition, TikTok has also launched the Intellectual Property Protection Center (IPPC), a platform that provides services specifically for intellectual property owners, allowing them to directly report to TikTok any sellers suspected of infringing intellectual property rights in the TikTok Shop.
