YouTube Is Testing Product Detection In Videos

YouTube is testing new features again!

The YouTube product team is constantly testing new tools and features to help viewers find, watch, share and create content more easily. These beta features are usually only available for a short period of time and only to a small group of people.

Recently, in a company blog, YouTube stated that it is testing a new feature in its latest experiment that can display products detected in certain videos and a list of related products.

It is reported that the product detection feature will appear between recommended videos to make viewers scroll below the video player, thereby helping people browse more videos and information about these products on YouTube. YouTube also said the feature will be visible to viewers watching the video in the United States.

When it comes to recommended products, if YouTube rolls out extensive product detection in the future, creators may no longer need to include product links in the description.

In recent years, YouTube and other social platforms have been experimenting with ways to integrate shopping into their content. With consumers spending most of their time at home during the pandemic, shoppable content has been an accelerated trend.

The product detection feature is the latest experiment to make it easier for consumers to purchase items recommended by their favorite influencers. Earlier, YouTube has also launched many shopping functions:

Last April, YouTube experimented with a "Products in this Video" feature that allowed viewers to see more information about products mentioned in videos.

Last June, Google launched shoppable video ads specifically for YouTube, which included a "Buy Now" button that took viewers directly to the retailer's website to purchase the item.

In January this year, YouTube tested a new feature with some creators. Creators can add certain products to videos, and viewers can view the product list by clicking the shopping bag icon in the lower left corner of the video.

YouTube regularly launches new features and conducts experiments. These features will have a significant impact on advertising and shopping opportunities on the platform. Sellers who are working hard or intending to expand on YouTube should also pay more attention.
