In addition, StreamElements and Rainmaker.gg analyzed the data of the Twitch platform in February and found that there are two significant development trends on Twitch – the popularity of chess continues to increase and the number of women continues to increase.

Data shows that the chess category on Twitch exceeded 21 million hours of viewing in February, setting another record high. In February last year, only 1 million hours were watched in this category.

StreamElements pointed out that after the Netflix chess drama "Queen's Gambit" premiered in October 2020, the ratings of chess surged, and the popularity has not diminished in the new year and has maintained steady growth.

However, according to a StreamElements spokesperson, the chess category ranks 17th in terms of watch time and has yet to break into the top ten.

In the list of the top ten most watched, chat and talent live streaming Just Chatting ranked first with 235 million hours watched; League of Legends ranked second with 144 million hours watched; This was followed by Grand Theft Auto 5, which had 135 million hours watched.

In addition, the ranking of the survival game Rust has plummeted. In February, it only had 43 million hours of viewing time, ranking 10th. In January, it had 189 million hours of viewing time, ranking second.

In addition to the popularity of chess content, the number of leading female creators on the Twitch platform has also increased. Although women make up 41% of U.S. video game players, there were only two women among the top 200 creators on Twitch last year, and in 2021, that number has grown to nine.

Among them, Pokimane became the most popular female creator on Twitch, with more than 2 million hours of viewing time in February. StreamElements expects the number of female creators on Twitch to continue to grow in the coming months.
