Sellers Note: Google Is Shutting Down Its Mobile Shopping App

Mobile devices play an increasingly important role in the consumer shopping process, so many sellers are investing heavily in apps. Google has gone in the opposite direction and will shut down its mobile shopping app in June.

According to foreign media reports, Google is shutting down its mobile shopping app. What exactly is going on? Come and find out with the editor!

Recently, XDA Developers discovered the word "sunset" (sunset) in several strings of code in the Shopping application, indicating that the application is being deactivated. Later, Google confirmed to 9to5 Google that it will shut down its shopping apps on iOS and Android at the end of June and direct users to its shopping website.

The Shopping app allows users to choose from thousands of online stores and make purchases using their Google account.

A Google spokesperson said: "In the next few weeks, we will no longer support the Shopping app. All the features the app provides users can be found in the Shopping channel on Google's official website."

A Google spokesperson also said that Google will continue to build these features into the Shopping Channel and other Google interfaces in the future, including official Google apps. At the same time, the shopping website shopping.google.com will continue to remain active.

The editor checked shopping.google.com and found that the products displayed on the website cover electronic products, home decoration, restaurants, toys, handicrafts & leisure hobbies, kitchen appliances, bedding & bath supplies and other categories.

Last month, Google also launched a micro-shopping site called Best things for everything, which lists the top 1,000 products on the Internet.

Although Google says the Shopping app can continue to operate until June, some users have reported seeing "something went wrong" error notifications (pictured below). This is also a reminder to sellers who use the app to start making other plans.

In response to this matter, some netizens lamented that the biggest risk in using Google Apps is not knowing when it will be shut down. You can also find a list of products that have been suspended by Google from the website, such as Google Reader, Google Cloud Print, Google Cardboard, etc.

Platform sellers need to always pay attention to platform policy adjustments, and sellers on Google are no exception. Sellers should pay more attention to Google’s changes and make timely adjustments.
