46% Of Snapchatters Plan To Buy Gifts To Celebrate Mother’s And Father’s Day

75% of Snapchatters plan to spend Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with their parents or extended family, and 81% say it’s especially important for them to be with their mom or dad this year.

When Snapchatters look for inspiration on how to celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day, nearly 40% turn to their siblings or other family members for advice. If they still don't get inspiration, a quarter of the world's Snapchatters go straight to their parents, including a third in Australia, the United States and Canada.

Mobile devices are an important tool in the gift buying process. When planning a gift purchase, more than two-fifths of Snapchatters globally use their phones to research gifts, with this proportion reaching 50% in Australia and 49% in the UK and Mexico.

Additionally, Snapchatters in Saudi Arabia are most likely to share gifts they purchased/received for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day on Snapchat.

55% of global Snapchatters plan to provide parents with more traditional gifts such as jewelry, cards or flowers. Traditional gifts are particularly popular among Snapchatters in the UK (67%), the US (65%) and Norway (64%). Meanwhile, Snapchatters in India, Germany, Italy and Canada plan to give away their homemade gifts.

Last year, top words and phrases related to Mother’s Day and Father’s Day on the platform included “The best mom/dad,” “Thank you,” “Love you” and “In the world.” According to Snapchat statistics last year, there were 25 times more conversations mentioning "mom" and "Mother's Day" on Mother's Day 2020 than in the previous two weeks.
